“Misanthropy develops when without art one puts complete trust in somebody thinking the man absolutely true and sound and reliable and then a little later discovers him to be bad and unreliable…and when it happens to someone often…he ends up…hating everyone." - Socrates”—
So today has been alright, but the following things have annoyed me:
01. Horse racing, or in particular jumps racing. It is such a bullshit sport that for some reason is allowed to continue operating in Victoria and South Australia. Victoria is phasing it out and it will cease sometime this year, but I’m not sure if SA has any plans to. Some of the worst cases of animal cruelty occur at these events, and in any other type of horse racing. Every year horses break legs/fall and hurt themselves on a constant basis and are subsequently euthanized because they are of no use to the owner and will simply cost them money. All the horse trainers can come up with to justify the cruelty or deny it is “Oh, we treat the horses better than humans, they get treated beautifully” or arguments to that effect. I understand that the reason humans are attracted to horse racing is that horses have been used as a tool by humans for thousands of years, and their great size and muscular bodies put us in awe. We don’t treat them well, we treat them as if they are tools or servants. Would a horse REALLY want to have something sitting on its back, whipping it, racing around in circles? The horse gets absolutely nothing out of it, sure they “earn” a name for themselves and get to parade around in front of people but really would they want that? They couldn’t care less, they’re a horse.
02. Buses, I have three points to make about bus etiquette.
If you sit in the seat beside me don’t take up anymore of my personal space by putting pieces of your anatomy (arms/legs/fat) in my seating zone, you ignorant piece of shit. If you are to fat to be able to sit in a seat, it’s no excuse. Stand up.
If you are fat (obese), don’t grunt or complain when the driver takes off and you stumble over; if you weren’t so fat chances are it wouldn’t happen. If you are fat (obese), don’t take up the spots for the disabled/elderly; you made a conscious decision to be fat, they didn’t choose to be disabled. If you are fat (obese), don’t catch the fucking bus, no one wants you to anyway. I promise I’m not having a go at people that are fat or a bit pudgy, that would be hypocritical of me as I am guilty of having a bit of a beer/chocolate/chip belly myself.
ATTN: Everyone that catches a bus. You DO NOT need to get up miles ahead of your bus stop and stand up the front near the driver so you can be the first to leap out of the bus! The bus driver will stop for you, don’t worry! Jesus.
